Course Objective
This program provides clinicians with the opportunity to learn about:
The diagnostic and treatment issues involved in working with hoarders
The differences between collecting and hoarding
The thought pattern, the inner experience of people when they are hoarding or people who are hoarders
Clutter blindness
Intended Audience

Author Bio
GAIL STEKETEE, Ph.D. - Dr. Gail Steketee is Dean and Professor at the Boston University School of Social Work in
Boston, MA. She received her MSW and PhD from Bryn Mawr Graduate School of Social Work
and Social Research. She has conducted many research studies on the psychopathology and
treatment of anxiety and obsessive-compulsive spectrum disorders. These include projects
funded by the US National Institute of Mental Health on family factors that affect treatment
outcome for OCD and agoraphobia, the development and testing of cognitive and behavioral
therapies for obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD) and body dysmorphic disorder, and the
psychopathology and cognitive behavioral treatment of hoarding disorder.
