Aphasia is a language disorder that impairs a person's ability to speak or to understand what others are saying. Effective communication is an important key to improving the quality of life for patients with aphasia. This program defines aphasia and its effects on family members and the person with aphasia. Communication techniques developed by speech/language pathologists and others in the field are included.
