Prior to the DSM-5, personality disorders were coded on Axis II.  But now the DSM-5 has done away with the use of “axes” for diagnostic coding, and the good news is there is a new conceptualization of personality disorders away from undesirable or negative personality features and towards a conceptualization of personality disorder as an impairment in both self-organization and interpersonal relating.
Course Objective
This program provides clinicians with the opportunity to learn about:
• Describe how the conceptualization of personality disorders has changed.
• Understand the purpose of the DSM for clinicians.
• Name and describe the six domains of the World Health Organization disability Assessment Schedule.
• Define General Personality Disorder and describe two areas in which this disorder’s patterns manifest.

Nurses, Psychologists, Social Workers, Counselors, Marriage and Family Therapists, Addiction Therapists

Melissa Perrin, Psy.D. is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist in the State of Illinois with a private practice established in Evanston.  She received her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the Chicago School of Professional Psychology and has three decades of clinical experience.  Dr. Perrin has consulted for Hazelden and Rush Behavioral Health and has served as Adjunct Faculty for Argosy University.
